AP - A Guatemalan mayor was arrested for killing his two political rivals. Authorities stated that presumably Luis Fernando Marroquin,(accused) faked an assassination attempt on himself to masked his involvement to the crime. Just the month before, the two mayoral contenders ( Augusto Enrique Ovalle Barrera and Enrique Dardon) was killed while Marroquin ought to have survived a gun attack.
The suspect said that he was wearing a bullet proof vest that's why he survived the alleged gun attack. But authorities were doubtful about it since there were three bullets that has entered the car seat and would have gone through Marroquin and his bullet proof vest thus there's an inconsistency between his testimony and the evidence. In fact according to reports, the bullet holes seen from the car seat were no match from the bullet holes sen in the his vest.
The killing made the people in the place worried and fearful for their safety. But the authorities calmed and told them that the killings were most probably related to politics.
